“Sorry, Fully Committed”

Now that summer is over and New Yorkers have returned to the city, I am hearing maître d’ after maître d’ utter this phrase: “Sorry, fully committed.” It’s essentially an annoyingly positive way of letting you know that they aren’t accepting any more reservations. Wah waah.

No longer can we stumble into a popular, trendy spot in SOHO and expect a table right away. The city is just too crowded now. It’s weird because I don’t remember thinking the city felt empty in August, but looking back, I suppose it was. It makes sense with everyone “summering” in the Hamptons.

I guess this means I’ll need to do a little more advance planning… And with our good friends, Caty and Matt coming to NYC this weekend, I better get on it!
