I think New Yorkers get a bad rap. I was ready for the rude, prepared for the persnickety, and bracing for the brash ways of the stereotypical New Yorker. But our encounters, thus far, have been in a word: pleasant!
We have been overwhelmed by the friendliness of New Yorkers. I guess they love babies as much as everyone else. Everywhere we go – restaurants, stores, parks, even the subway – we run into people who I’m pretty sure would otherwise walk right by us without making eye contact. But when Anna Drake is with us, they stop. And stop for a good long while. Some reach out to touch her like this New Yorker in Lord & Taylor yesterday. This makes the germaphobe in me shudder, but it makes my heart smile.
What has been your experience?
